The Squall

from THE SQUALL by Damned Men

/

lyrics

All rudderless and awe broke we drift along the coast.
Men blistered-handed and will broke, flushed out from the cove.
Not one of us is willing, not one without a sound.

Waves echo back our curses, praying and weak.
The helm drops and sways, shows the rocks on which we creak.
Bearing down the squall draws ever closer.
We are damned, lord save our souls.

There is the sight of a beast, jagged sharp from water's birth.
And the breaking of the hull, will be the end.
We should known that what we'd left wasn't what we'd find.
And that the jowls of a wind shear would be the end.

All pride is lost, living with the ghost of an old life.
There's no living in only dealing with the dead.
No man is ruled by a god, only guilt for what is done.
There's no forgiveness, only forgetting what is gone.
