The tide waits for no man

from THE SQUALL by Damned Men

/

lyrics

On this cove where thunder strides like a horse.
Clouds folding, our boat is rolling on the waves.
The tide waits for no man, we're nearing the rocks.

We left a town or more so a wasteland, its veins paved in fish scales and ocean graves.
The only sight darker is when your eyelids fold and there's a man at the helm, yelling "row you spineless dogs".

I see the faces of my brothers grimaced, sweat pouring from their brows, we're heading home.
No time is wasted on positive gestures, the will to survive is forced and not as graceful as we'd been told.
The tide waits for no man.
